Turkish Beans Recipe

Turkish Beans Bowl

This is a wonderful dish, that my step mother often makes. Pinto beans are a main component of our daily diet. This is also an excellent recipe, for anyone on the slow carb diet.

Ingredients

2 cups dried pinto beans
1/4 cup olive oil
1 medium tomato
1 small onion
15 oz tomato sauce
1 tablespoon garlic powder
2 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoons sea salt

Directions

Soak beans overnight. Cover soaked beans with 1 inch of water in a pressure cooker, and cook for 15 minutes. Drain beans and place back in pot. Chop onion finely, and saute in some olive oil, until onions are tender. Dice tomato. Add onion, diced tomatoes, olive oil, tomato sauce, garlic power, chili powder, salt and about 1 1/2 cups water to the beans. Simmer mixture for 15 to 20 minutes. Eat hot or at room temperature.
