Southern Style Collards Recipe

When I first grew collards in my garden I didn't know how to cook them. It turns out they are very easy to incorporate into soups and stews. I was surprised but my kids loved this recipe. I think a better name for it would be collard soup. Serve as a side, or a main dish with some home cooked bread.

Ingredients

1 pound fresh and tender collards
1 bottle chicken broth
2 Tbsp apple vinegar
1 tsp hot sauce
1 tsp salt

Directions

In a large pot sauté the onions and garlic in olive oil.

Strip the stalks from the collards, and place leaves into the pot with the salt, vinegar, broth and hot sauce.

Simmer for 1 hour
